Hôtel Notre Dame

We loved this little local restaurant and would certainly return if we're in the area. We sat on the balcony with a view of the beautiful church of Orcival, and the service was friendly and attentive. The 3 course menu was good value at 25 euros. We had roasted beetroot to start, filet of trout, and tiramisu for dessert. Everything was nicely presented and really tasty.

The fantastic breakfast, together with a very reasonable price, made the stay even better. We had a warm welcome at this little hotel in a small village, with comfortable rooms and a generous dinner menu of delicious Auvergne specialties and cheeses. Pack light, since getting to the rooms means climbing a narrow staircase, but the stay is worth it.

Veronique and Vincent made us feel incredibly welcome. They're a young couple who have recently taken over the hotel, and they're full of enthusiasm. Vincent is a superb chef, while Veronique runs the front of house brilliantly. We had several excellent dinners and breakfasts there, and they looked after us so well. Hotel Notre Dame sits on the central square in the beautiful village of Orcival, with plenty of parking. The almost 900 year old Roman style basilica is in the heart of the volcanic region of the Auvergne. We'd highly recommend staying here if you're visiting the area. If we come back to the Auvergne, this is where we'll stay!

Veronique and Vincent are wonderful, and I can't wait for my next trip to Orcival. Hôtel Notre Dame is the best place I've found to stay and eat there. The food is exceptional, and I've discovered so many delicious wines from the Auvergne.
