Hotel Atmospheres

There are loads of restaurants nearby, and Notre Dame, the Pantheon and the Latin Quarter are all close. The service was friendly and efficient. Our double room was very tight, with only about two feet of space around the bed. We skipped breakfast, so I can't comment on it.

We stayed five days, and the room was quiet with housekeeping each afternoon. We had twin beds on the sixth floor, plus a desk, chair, footstool, luggage rack and safe. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. There was a Nespresso machine with original pods, tea and water with a charcoal stick. The bathroom had a roomy shower with both an overhead head and a separate wand. Toiletries included tissues, soap, shampoo and slippers, though there was no conditioner, body lotion, shower cap or night light. The location made it easy to walk to Notre Dame, the Latin Quarter and the Pantheon, and the metro was handy, including for the airport. Two one-star Michelin restaurants, AT and Alliance, were nearby; I'd recommend them. Staff were nice, though some had limited English. We did have to leave our key at reception every time we went out and collect it when we returned. Breakfast cost extra, and we got a reduced price by buying it in advance. It was a good small buffet: fluffy scrambled eggs, hard-boiled eggs, bacon, sausage, cold cuts, cheese, pastries, fruit, yogurt, juice, and Nespresso Vertuo coffee, regular coffee and tea. The breakfast staff worked hard to keep everything stocked. There was also an honor bar in the lobby with wine, beer, liquor and Nespresso Vertuo coffee. The temperature in the room couldn't be adjusted. The control said Central, and the arrows did nothing. Luckily it was warm outside and the windows opened a little, so we could cool the room that way, though there were no screens. The gym was tiny and had no weights, and there's no pool. I spent weeks reading reviews before choosing this place and booked directly. It was clean and well maintained, the staff were nice, and the location was great for walking. I'd stay again.

Celia, who looks after breakfast and has worked here for over 30 years, was so kind to us and our three girls. The hotel itself was amazing, with a great location. Highly recommended.

The rest of the team and the hotel were good, but the way one staff member handled a simple question left us with a terrible first impression. I booked one night for two adults and two children, for Wednesday, November 26. Our train was delayed, so I called at 11:10 PM to let them know we might arrive after midnight. I had also noticed that Expedia's confirmation showed two guests, though I had booked for four, and I attached a screenshot. The person on the phone was extremely rude when I asked them to confirm whether the booking was for two or four. He told me to check the confirmation and got angry when I asked him to look it up. He eventually did, but clearly didn't want to. When I met him at the front desk, he didn't apologize and kept trying to justify himself. Very poor service over an ordinary question. I hope management will review the call, made at 11:10 PM before we arrived at 11:41 PM, and check any hotel video or conversations if available.
