Austin's Saint Lazare Hotel

The breakfast room is on the small side, but we could always find a table. The selection was very good, and staff quickly topped up anything that ran out. They also let us check in early on arrival day, which meant a lot after our flight and heavy rain. Austin's Saint Lazare was our base for a fabulous ten days in Paris and exceeded our expectations. We had two side-by-side rooms, both very comfortable and equipped with everything we needed. The beds and bathrooms were lovely, and the hotel was clean, cosy and charming. There are lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Palais Garnier and Galeries Lafayette are just a five-minute walk away, and Gare St. Lazare train and metro station is across the road. Metro lines 12, 13, 14 and 9 are only a few minutes away. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Special thanks to the lady at reception, whose smile and kindness we noticed and appreciated. Getting around Paris was easy from this hotel since it sits right by the main station. I was first shown a small room, but when I asked, they were happy to move me to a larger one with a better view. The staff were very courteous, and the hospitality was exceptional. A fantastic place to stay.

I paid €1.5k for this hotel and had told them it was for our special 25th anniversary trip. Three days ago, I slipped four discs and can’t travel. I’ve sent four messages and called, but nobody has responded. I’m not asking for a refund, only to change the dates. I believe they’re waiting until tomorrow’s check-in time passes so I lose all my money. So rude and nasty, with no customer service at all. We thought it looked like a good hotel, but this has been horrible. Not even a thank you for the money or a sorry that I’m ill, just nothing about changing the dates. Avoid places like this and don’t give them your hard-earned money.

The hotel was really calm, with no outside noise, and it was clean and fresh. Breakfast was the same each day, but everything was fresh and organised, and given what we paid, we couldn’t expect too much. The staff spoke English and were very friendly. We stayed for a week, and the price and location were amazing. It’s right next to the station, with links to most trains and the Tube. There’s also a shopping centre and a supermarket inside the station. The rooms are a bit small, but for the price they were perfect. A few hooks on the wall for jackets would help. If you’re after a bargain and don’t need luxury, this is the place.
