Cour des Vosges - Evok Collection

On Place des Vosges, one of Paris's most beautiful squares, this historic hôtel particulier feels more like a private residence than a hotel. There are very few rooms, and the place is quiet, with no crowds or noise. The service is excellent, the beds are comfortable, and the style is discreet, luxurious and beautifully understated. A rare find if you value calm, exclusivity and luxury.

We booked a junior suite for 2,000 EUR per night, and had problems from start to finish. Trust the lower reviews, which seem to be the accurate ones, and don't be taken in by the hotel's beautiful photos. The bath had no hot water. Since it was February, we expected duvets, but the beds didn't have any. We asked for extra covers and got blankets instead. Room service also didn't arrive as described. The last straw was being told at breakfast that it wasn't included in our stay, even though we'd been told on arrival that we could have it in our room or on the terrace. At this price, you'd expect breakfast to be included. The staff were friendly, but there's clearly no management, and they struggled to resolve the problems to the standard you'd expect from a five-star place.

We lucked into a stay across three rooms that all connected, and it was spectacular. The service was flawless, and breakfast was included each morning, with all the textbook French luxury you'd expect. The view of the park wasn't bad either. Elegant, well located, spectacular.

The staff looked after my pregnant wife with so much warmth and care that we felt truly looked after. After travelling widely, we found Cour des Vosges stood apart, and we'll return again and again with gratitude and affection. We loved the room so much that we chose to dine in more than once, enjoying the view and quiet atmosphere. The interiors feel elegant and luxurious without being showy, and the art collection adds warmth and depth. Details were carefully considered throughout, from the Dyson hairdryer, bathrobes and slippers to the incredibly comfortable bed and bedding. Fresh flowers were waiting for us, and the complimentary whisky and vodka felt like a generous gesture from a host. The room was perfectly quiet and dark at night, so we slept well. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that the design and service had been thought through with unusual care. The location is one of the most charming in Paris, full of history and character, quietly luxurious and without a hint of ostentation.
