Helzear Montparnasse Suites

We stayed in a superior double room that felt like a small studio, with a separate bedroom, a living area and sofa bed, a fully equipped kitchenette, and a bathroom with a bathtub. The bedding was comfortable, and the building, a former printing house, has a distinctive charm. It’s good value for money, but the stay had some real drawbacks. Noise came through from neighboring and upstairs rooms because the insulation was poor. Cigarette smoke from a neighbor seeped into our room, so I’m not sure these are truly non-smoking rooms. The water pressure varied, and the shower temperature kept changing, which was frustrating. Housekeeping also wasn’t done for two days. For a four-star hotel, that’s inexcusable and far below expectations. With better maintenance and service, this could be an outstanding place to stay.

The location is lovely, on a quiet, charming street next to Montparnasse. We booked at the last minute after an unexpected problem with our train and were given a very warm welcome. There was a small issue with the room, but we raised it right away and Hotel Manager Farid sorted it out brilliantly within minutes. He also kindly moved us to a much bigger room and included complimentary minibar items, all with a lovely smile. We’ll be back soon!

This is a handy, stylish place to stay if you’re out exploring most of the day and want a clean, comfortable base in a reasonably safe area. It’s an apartment-style hotel, calm and fuss-free, with several train lines close by, including Line 6, which goes straight to the Eiffel Tower. There are lovely local cafés nearby. Our room was spotless when we arrived, with fresh bedding and comfortable air conditioning. The staff were polite and welcoming. A real highlight was breakfast delivered to the door in a charming basket with lots of bread, spreads, yoghurt, and juice. It’s also just right for taking along as a small packed lunch. The six-person apartment in the photos has a ladder up to the mini loft. I’d definitely come back.

The hotel was very clean, and the staff were super helpful and ready whenever we needed them. We had a really nice stay and will definitely return.
