The standard is very basic, as you'd expect for the price, but the service was excellent. The building itself is beautiful, with a big public square in front and a stunning garden behind it, in a vibrant, diverse neighborhood. Breakfast is simple and reasonably priced. The main issue was noise. The bar/restaurant downstairs played extremely loud music on weekends until 1:30am. I couldn't sleep, even with earplugs and the windows closed, and shutting them made the 35-degree heat unbearable. The water temperature at the sink and shower also couldn't be adjusted. During Paris's heatwave, very hot water was not appealing.

The staff were nice, and it's cheap with good access to the train. But the streets around the hostel were packed with people playing boom boxes until 2am, and I honestly had one of the worst nights of sleep in my life. The water only had one setting, very hot, even at the sink. Expect sleep to match the price.

The staff were really helpful, and the rooms are a little small, but they look out over an amazing garden. There's an outdoor terrace too, and breakfast is included. I paid €55 for a night, which felt a bit expensive, though it is Paris. I don't usually expect much from hostels in a busy city center, but I chose this one for its architectural design and cute little neighborhood. It's got a lively feel, with bars and pizza restaurants right outside, and the metro is a few minutes' walk away.

Breakfast was included, with granola, toast and jam, yoghurt, a bread roll, either a croissant or pain de chocolat, juice, tea, and coffee. There was so much we couldn't finish it all! The staff were friendly and helpful, and it's an easy walk to tourist sites by bus or metro, with Montmartre about 10 minutes away. We were a family of five in an ensuite bunk room for two nights. It was a really good hostel, clean, with comfortable beds and power and device charging at each one. We had no security problems.

My original review, from November 2025: I booked an en suite private room at fairly short notice and was perfectly happy with it. I’d read comments about breakfast items being rationed, but that wasn’t an issue for me. The signs at the entrance explain what you’re entitled to, and the breakfast was quite acceptable. I’d stay here again. Update, May 2026: The French Youth Hostel Association went into judicial liquidation on 2 March 2026. They’ve gone bust, though you wouldn’t guess that from the website. The courts have let them keep trading for three months, until early June, with one possible extension, while they look for a buyer for as many hostels as they can sell. It’s terribly sad. I feel for the staff across all 80 hostels and the uncertainty they’re facing, and I hope things work out for them. I’d booked a trip through France for April 2026 before I knew about the financial trouble, but had to cancel because I was ill. This was one of the hostels I was meant to stay in, and now I’m wondering whether I’ll get my money back from a bankrupt organisation. As a pensioner, that’s a lot for me to lose, though I feel for the staff too since it isn’t their fault. It’s a mess for everyone.
