Hipotel Paris Montmartre

The only upside is how close it is to the metro. The rooms are tiny, with nowhere to put luggage or hang clothes properly, and the cleaning is very poor. The floors are always dirty, the mattresses and blankets are filthy, and there aren’t enough towels. There’s no elevator, just narrow stairs, so getting to your room takes strong legs.

The staff were welcoming and supportive, and the low prices make a stay in Paris more affordable. Simplon station is only a three-minute walk away, with a direct ride to Saint Michel, where I arrived to visit Notre Dame. Still, I can’t recommend this hotel for more than a night. My room was tiny and poorly insulated, and the neighborhood was loud at night, so bring earplugs. The sheets and pillowcases were dusty, and the mattresses had stains. There also seemed to be vermin: a mouse ran through my room several times, though I couldn’t get a photo because it was too fast. I only stayed one night, so I could put up with it, but I can’t imagine staying longer. If I visit Paris again, I’ll look for another hotel even if it costs more. The hygiene and vermin problems outweigh the helpful staff, low price, and convenient metro.

The staff were nice, but the hotel and rooms were dirty, and our room wasn’t cleaned during the stay. Getting clean sheets and towels was a problem too. I was even bitten by some kind of insect hidden in the pillow. The rooms are very small as well. For 40 euros a night, I expected better care of these things.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming, but the room looked nothing like the picture. The walls were very dirty and covered in mold, and there were cockroaches everywhere. On our fourth night we saw a mouse in the room. I wouldn’t come back. They need proper cleaning, since all they did was make the bed.
