Hotel BoroNali

The staff were great, answered our questions, and helped whenever we needed it. We got one of the cheapest hotels we could book for our Paris holiday, which was a plus, though there were plenty of downsides. The metro is very close, but we often felt unsafe in the neighbourhood because of the shady people around. Our small first-floor room was fine in size, but hardly any daylight came in since the window was wedged between buildings. Two smelly trash cans sat right outside it. Every day from 8 to 10 there was loud noise like repair work, and we couldn't sleep. Maybe we just visited during an unlucky spell. I'd recommend it for a short stay, rated it 7/10, but don't expect much.

The room had plenty of table and floor space for laying out our things, with lots of charging points, including USB. It was comfortable, clean, and the toilet was large and functional. After trying another three-star hotel in Paris, the Best Western chain, I preferred this one. The welcome from the staff was warm, and I'd be happy to return. The walls are thin, so you can hear noise, including doors slamming. At Château Rouge metro station, I felt intimidated at first by the groups gathered near the exit. Over the next few days I got more comfortable, and local friends reassured me that, though busy, it wasn't a dangerous spot compared with some other stations. As anywhere in Paris, keep an eye on your belongings.

Our room on the second floor was quiet, and the staff were lovely and welcoming. The place looked newly renovated and very nice. They happily stored our bags before check-in. Paris hotel rooms tend to be small, and that's just part of the deal, but ours was tidy, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom and shower were nice. Thanks for a lovely stay.

The only small drawback for our trip was getting to and from the racetrack at ParisLongchamp, which meant some pretty long Metro journeys. The hotel is just two stops from Gare Du Nord. Its recently refurbished rooms were small but just right for our short stay, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. We had a great time, the price was very reasonable, and we'd gladly come back.
