Hôtel de Nantes

The location is handy, close to the metro, shops, and local restaurants, and the area somehow doesn’t feel overrun with tourists. The room was dusty, though, and so was the bathroom, where we found hair. We could clearly hear noise from other rooms, especially at night. Cleanliness was very poor.

We chose this place to save money, even though the reviews had made us expect it wouldn’t be great. We regretted it. On our last night there was a rat in our room, and the place was very dirty. When we arrived, there was hair everywhere, even on the wall beside the bed, and the towels seemed to be the ones left by the previous guests. The staff were friendly and made the bed neatly each morning, but the stay was still deeply uncomfortable and unpleasant. I wouldn’t recommend it at all. As far as hygiene goes, authorities should shut the place down.

The staff were nice and our room was clean, but the hotel itself was basic and pretty run-down. There’s no lift, and the narrow staircase made hauling our bags upstairs a struggle. I wouldn’t stay here again.

I woke up covered in bedbug bites and asked for another room, but that one had bedbugs too. My whole body was covered in bites, so I couldn’t stay for the final night I’d booked. I asked them to wash my clothes so I wouldn’t bring bedbugs home, and they did. When I requested a refund, both the hotel and Expedia refused. I’ve never had such pitiful customer service. Unless you want itchy bites and bugs crawling over you and whoever you’re traveling with, book somewhere else.
