Hotel Empereur

The location was the one real bright spot for us. The rest of the stay was a letdown. We paid extra for a room with a view, but the window faced a tree, so there was no proper view like the listing suggested. I’ve included a photo. After our first night, the hotel sent a survey and I explained we hadn’t received what we paid for. They offered to move us at 2:00 PM, when we were already out in the city, or the following day, when we had only one night left. Either way, we’d have had to return and move all our things. It didn’t feel like a workable solution. Breakfast was very poor, maybe 1 out of 5. There wasn’t much choice, the food wasn’t good, and the staff seemed unfriendly and uninterested. The hotel itself is old and worn, and needs maintenance and renovation for the price. We stayed three nights, but I wouldn’t book it again or recommend it.

At first, after checking in, we weren’t sure about our choice. By the second night, though, we were glad we’d booked it. It has an older French character, and the location puts a lot within easy reach, with good restaurants nearby. It isn’t perfect, but I think it’s worth trying.

The balcony had lovely views, and the location was great: right across from Napoleon's Tomb/ Hotel des Invalided museum. The metro is a short walk away, and the Eiffel Tower isn’t far either.

At night the area was quiet and peaceful, so we slept well, even though it gets busy on weekdays. Grocery stores, restaurants, and a pharmacy were just around the corners. We especially enjoyed looking out at the Army Museum. The Eiffel Tower took about 20 minutes to walk to, and the train was only two minutes around the corner. The staff were always kind and welcoming, and we had a great stay. Highly recommend!
