We stayed in a clean, comfortable twin room with lovely decor, and the Nuxe toiletries were a nice touch. The Marais location is brilliant. The area felt very safe for me and my female friend, with lovely little shops and cafés nearby, and Place des Vosges and several metro stations just a short walk away. I'd happily stay here again and can't wait to return.

The location is good, the rooms are nice but small, and the breakfast lady and cleaning staff were super friendly. The problem was the self-proclaimed director and how he handled the water charges. We were told the rule was one free bottle per room per stay, but on our first night we asked a staff member how many bottles we got, and he said one per person. When we asked why we'd received only one, he went downstairs, brought up two bottles, and handed them to us. On checkout, the director said those two bottles cost 3 euros each. I explained nobody had told us they were chargeable, and that we wouldn't have taken them if we had known. He just shrugged and insisted we pay. We argued that charging us for something that wasn't advertised was unfair, and he was rude and condescending throughout. He eventually waived the charges, but the whole conversation infuriated me. It's not about the money, it's about how the business is run. Maybe the director should do his job better and train the staff to communicate clearly.

My wife urgently needed to use the bathroom and reception refused. That was so unfriendly. We weren't bums, just European tourists in need.

I wouldn't advise anyone to book this hotel. My daughter and I arrived on a Saturday morning in August for a weekend break. I told the receptionist we'd be back around midnight, and he said that was fine because reception was open 24 hours. He also confirmed the twin room we'd booked. When we returned around midnight, we found they'd overbooked and given our room to someone else, even though we'd paid and left our case there. They sent us to a hotel down the street, so we had to walk through the streets of Paris alone at midnight. I was very angry and unimpressed. The other hotel was rundown and far inferior to the one we'd booked. We were tired and had little choice but to go up to the room, which turned out to be a tiny, poky double rather than a twin. Eventually the receptionist gave us two awful double rooms. We had to accept them, since two of us couldn't sleep in one very small double. It was stressful: we had only one case between us, and I have a health condition that means I should share a bedroom. We later learned that whoever booked us into the other hotel knew it had no twin rooms that night and that we'd be given a double. I was furious and disappointed with how we were treated, and especially that nobody emailed or called to tell me they couldn't honor the booking. Back home, I exchanged emails with a rude person who refunded half the room cost but didn't seem to understand how let down we were by the lack of service. If I could give zero stars, I would.

We stayed here three times over six days in Paris and walked nearly 100 km from the hotel to museums and other special places around the center. The location was perfect for us. The hotel and street were quiet at night, so we slept well, and the rooms were comfortable and very clean. The staff always made us feel at home. The front desk team were cheerful, gracious, and ready to help, checking whether we needed anything. They warmly welcomed us when we arrived at six am on our first day. I especially want to mention the woman who served breakfast. We understand she's worked there a long time. The buffet of fresh fruit, croissants, pastries, yogurt, cereals, and juices was always stocked and ready. She greeted us with a smile and cappuccinos every morning, and her warm welcome was a big part of why we looked forward to breakfast. A real gem in the heart of Paris.
