The courtyard between the bar and the rooms was gorgeous, with a great view of the nearby church. This was easily the best hostel of our euro grad trip. My friend and I arrived late after a chaotic Metro ride, with Paris having just won a crazy game. The woman running the place made us feel at home straight away, gave us water, and was such a gem. All the employees were friendly and helpful. Our private room was spotless. The showers were so clean it was the first time on our trip I didn't feel I needed water shoes. The beds and pillows were super comfortable, and call me American, but the AC was glorious. The hostel is fairly social, especially with the bar on the first floor, which draws people into the mix. I liked having drinks and chatting, but if you want an early, quiet night, the late-opening bar might not suit you.

I barely slept because the room was stuffy with poor ventilation, and the bar downstairs stayed loud until around 2 or 3 a.m. I asked the front desk to contact the manager. They said the manager replies to emails quickly, but I got no answer that night. The reply came the next morning, and the manager wouldn't take responsibility, calling it a matter of bed preference. The bed itself felt unsafe. I was put in an upper bunk with no safety rail, and it was basic and unstable, shaking heavily whenever anyone moved even a little. I have a fear of heights, so I didn't feel safe sleeping there. When I asked the front desk for another bed, they said none was available. This wasn't just about which bed I preferred, it was a safety concern. The response was extremely disappointing. They said the beds had been without rails for 40 years and that nobody had complained before. That doesn't make the bed safe, and it isn't a proper answer to a guest raising a safety issue. This was one of my worst hostel stays. The room was poor, the bed felt unsafe, the ventilation was bad, the noise was unacceptable, and communication was very disappointing. I wouldn't stay again or recommend it to classmates, friends, or anyone travelling here.

I could walk to everything I needed from 3 ducks hostel in Paris. It was about 20 minutes on foot to the Eiffel Tower, and Javel metro station was around 15 minutes away, with a direct route to Versailles. The beds and bathrooms were clean. I stayed in the female dorm, where the water pressure was great and the shower stayed hot. The hostel becomes a bar at night, and plenty of locals come by, so there's always a lively social scene. Jose, who worked the day shift, was the best. It was his last week there while I was staying, and I'm really glad I met him. He made the place feel like home.

The room was tiny, but comfortable, and the location was great. There's not much at the hotel itself, though plenty of things are within walking distance. In the afternoon they have a nice happy hour with coffee, tea, and pastries. The lift works, but it's only large enough for one large person.

The cleaning was to a high standard, and the bedding was comfortable. It's in a good spot, close to shops, cafes, and the Metro. The staff weren't very nice and didn't tell us about Paris or the hostel's facilities. There weren't many social activities, or much information about events. The bar downstairs seemed more geared toward outside guests than people staying at the hostel. The other guests were lovely.
