Ucpa Sport Station Hostel Paris

The hostel was good value for money. I spent five nights in a six-bed dorm and got the chance to meet young Parisians, which was what I wanted. The lower bunk had a curtain you could pull around your bed space, and I liked the rules for sharing rooms, like no phone calls inside. Beds, rooms and shared toilets were clean. From the fourth floor I could see the train station and the city. Breakfast was €8 each day and somewhat like a buffet. Cafes and grocery stores were only a few walks away. My main concern was the mold already growing in the bathrooms, which I think they should address.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I arrived at the 3 PM check-in time and was assigned a bed that someone was already using. They fixed that, so I didn’t make a big deal of it. But when I came back to the hostel around midnight, there was someone in my bed again. Staff came when I called, and we found out the person wasn’t supposed to be in my room. They couldn’t find his name in the system, so he was basically there illegally. I asked to move rooms, and the new bed they gave me was filthy. After all that, I asked in the morning if I could at least have breakfast. They said I could have some coffee. Worst experience of my life.

The view was pretty decent, but the rest was rough. The shower ceilings had tons of mold, and the blankets and pillows were really dirty. Neither the rooms nor the toilets were clean. There were also lots of homeless and sketchy people in the neighborhood.

A decent low-budget place. The beds are a bit noisy and the common areas could be cleaner, but everything else was good for the price. Breakfast felt too expensive for me, so I didn’t try it. They do have some nice coffees to get your day started.
