Paris Marriott Charles de Gaulle Airport Hotel

We paid for a Marriott stay and expected the brand to deliver clean, properly managed rooms and basic service. That wasn't our experience at Marriott CDG Paris. We reported the problems to management and Andreea & Solveig Herthnot, but felt they didn't take responsibility or resolve them. We expected the GM to welcome feedback and use it to improve the property. Solveig didn't seem to care what happened to guests or take our concerns on board. Based on what we saw, I doubt this hotel would pass a Marriott inspection. That doesn't feel like the Marriott way. Our room on the renovated 2nd floor was dirty enough that we developed itchy bites, red welts, and lines on our bodies. We covered the chairs and floor with sheets and towels and still got bitten. The A/C vent was filthy and looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in years, and a horrible sewage smell spread across our floor at night. The internet went down for many hours, and the hot water failed for hours while I was showering in the morning. When I went to the 3rd floor once, the smell was so unbearable I turned straight around and got back in the elevator. We didn't feel treated as valued Marriott guests, and the unhygienic room conditions caused us extreme suffering.

The people taking our food and drink orders at the bar were helpful, and we enjoyed the food. But after nearly ten years as Marriott Bonvoy members, the rest of this one-night stay fell short of what we'd come to expect. We chose the hotel for its convenient position by the airport before an early flight home from Paris. Several things made the room uncomfortable. The sink wouldn't drain, leaving water standing throughout the stay, and the shower head was partly broken and leaking. Someone eventually came to help, but we were told there were no technicians available, so we might have been left without a usable shower. None of the room's USB ports worked. We were told it was a hotel-wide problem, which made us wonder why they were there without working alternatives in the phone or lights, as at other Marriott properties. The room phone was out of order too, making it hard to reach the front desk about these issues. It also took multiple messages after checkout to get a copy of the bill, even though we had already been told it was sent.

The room, bathroom, and staff were all great, and there was a convenient restaurant for a late arrival. It's a little expensive, but the food was good and it was handy to have it there. For an overnight layover at CDG, this worked perfectly. The shuttle can pick you up at the airport, and we appreciated getting an email with directions to the pickup spot when we arrived. Check the hotel's running times. The shuttle back to the airport costs a small, very reasonable fee.

The rooms were okay and breakfast service was good, but getting here was a real struggle. After a long delay, I was exhausted and confused trying to reach it from Terminal 2 in the middle of the night. There were no shuttles or trains. I thought I could use different shuttles to get closer, based on what some French lady was telling everyone, but she said the trains had stopped. In the end, the trip took an hour and I had to take a cab. I've stayed in plenty of airport hotels, and the location here is one of the most inconvenient to reach overnight. I felt I could get better value for money and didn't especially want to stay at the Sheraton again.
