The toilet flush was broken, so I reported it at reception. The young receptionist seemed annoyed at first, but once she understood the problem, her attitude changed and a handyman fixed it within 30 minutes. The location is close to the city center, though I personally didn’t feel very safe in the area. Make sure to read the details before booking, because cleaning isn’t included in the price and that should be made clearer beforehand. The property didn’t feel especially clean. There were carpet stains and visible wear in many places, making it seem old and poorly maintained. The towels were old, with only two per person, and the bathroom badly needs refurbishment. We could constantly hear drainage from other rooms, even late at night, because the plumbing was very noisy.

We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it. The hotel is near the train station, bars, and restaurants, and the tourist sites are an easy walk away. There’s also a Carrefour express nearby, handy if you want to use the kitchenette.

The building and shared spaces are on the low-standard side, and the industrial area is noisy and rather ugly, with a poor view. Still, the location is reasonably close to the Gare on foot, and prices are affordable compared with the rest of the city during plenary weeks. The rooms are clean and well equipped with a fridge, cooking utensils, and more than you’d dream of getting at Ibis. Staff are always friendly, try to help, and speak English.

It’s good value and in a great location. Honestly, I found the hotel much better than its current 3.5/5 rating and many of the reviews suggest.

The bathroom really needs refurbishment, and the room does too. Worse, there isn’t enough hot bath water for two people. After one person uses it, the hot water runs out and my roommate has to bathe in cold water.
