I wish I’d taken the time to go inside. From the outside, the cathedral looked unusually dark and striking, perhaps because of the weather, but the interior felt completely different. Its atmosphere was unlike any other cathedral I’d seen. The spire is 142 meters (466 feet) tall and was the world’s tallest building from 1647 to 1874. If you’re in Strasbourg, I really recommend visiting the interior.
I missed the cathedral’s closing time, but still got some great views of the exterior. It’s an impressive, enormous structure, with incredible detail in the spires, doors, flying buttresses, astronomical indicators, and clock. Definitely a must-see.
This public square is beautiful, with astonishing views of the cathedral. I stopped here for coffee every morning during my week-long visit.
I really enjoyed the astronomical clock, it’s absolutely unique. Stay to watch it move when the time changes. The whole visit was amazing, with so much history. Climbing the 360-plus steps to the cathedral top costs 8 euros and is definitely worth it. The view of Strasbourg is fantastic, and on a clear day you can see as far as the Black forest.
A great place to stop with a coffee and enjoy the view. The square is lively, especially in the afternoon, with tourists and street performers around. Cafés, souvenir shops, and lovely old buildings surround it, but the main draw is the stunning Notre-Dame Cathedral right in the middle. Don’t miss the Astronomical Clock inside.
