Tulip Hotels & Residences – Marne-la-Vallee Torcy

The big shopping centre is nearby, and there are plenty of food options around the railway station, including some really good restaurants. Torcy station is about a five-minute walk, with frequent trains that take around ten minutes to reach Disney. Staying here was much cheaper than booking a hotel in central Paris.

I was told at the front desk that I had to hand in my key to get the room cleaned. Nobody had explained that at check-in, and there was no information about it in the room. As a result, during my three-night stay at Hotel Kyriad Marne la Vallee -Torcy, the room wasn't cleaned at all. There were no fresh towels, the bed wasn't made, and the rubbish wasn't taken out. I don't think guests should have to figure out how to request basic cleaning without being told how it works. For a hotel that presents itself as comfortable and guest-friendly, this service was far below what I expected. I found the stay disappointing, won't come back, and wouldn't recommend it.

The station was the best thing for us: about a four-minute walk from the hotel, with trains into central Paris taking roughly 20 minutes. Disneyland is on the same line, though we didn't go there. We got coffee and pastries at the station cafe instead of having breakfast at the hotel. School groups sometimes filled the restaurant area in the morning. For what we paid, the hotel did the job, but the building felt a bit tired. Our room was clean, and the air conditioning handled the 32-degree heat well, though it was noisy. Soundproofing was decent, and most of the noise died down around 11 pm when families got back from the late Disney fireworks. The rear car park seemed spacious and was very quiet, although it wasn't secure.

The staff were great and went out of their way to help. Late at night, someone even went to the kitchen to get ice so we could keep some food fresh for our Celiac granddaughter. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the air conditioning was much appreciated on such a hot day. Walking back in the dark felt safe, and the RER station was only a few minutes away, with a direct route into Paris. We had booked three rooms for one night after the long drive from Calais, ahead of an early start for Disneyland Paris the next day, and to squeeze in a quick tour of Paris. We arrived early, checked in and left our bags in the baggage room. We came back late that evening to pick them up and head to the rooms.
