Hôtel des Etats Unis

It was surprisingly good for what I paid on Booking.com, and better than F1 hotels with their tiny shower cabins. The room size was fine and the bathroom was a good size. Parking was easy, and the back side wasn’t too noisy. All in all, okay.

Check-in was no problem even though we arrived in the middle of the night, or early morning. The beds were okay, and the bathroom and shower worked fine. You’ll definitely need earplugs because of the street noise, and should set your aesthetic standards aside for a bit. It did what it was meant to, hence the rating.

Selenia was especially helpful, and the rest of the staff were friendly too. The free parking was a nice extra. The room was a good size, with a comfortable bed and water that had good pressure and temperature. The refurbishment gives it a more upscale feel than a two-star hotel, even though the building is clearly a bit old. Breakfast was fine, but I thought it could be better for the price. Keep the location in mind: the three miles to the city center take about an hour at a leisurely pace. There's also a bus stop a few minutes away, or a metro station about a 20-minute walk away that gets you downtown in seven minutes.

The hotel staff were very helpful and even arranged an early breakfast for us. We had a brilliant stay, and the restaurant next door is well worth a visit.
