Best Hotel Bordeaux Sud

We booked at short notice and found the room very good, with staff who were quite helpful. The rates are reasonable, and public transport is very close. If you’re checking in without a car, I’d suggest taking a taxi, especially at night.

The owner was so enthusiastic and welcoming. Our room was tidy and clean, the bed was comfortable, and we could open the window for fresh air. Check-in was through the machine to the right of the front door. It was easy to use, payment was quick, and it issued the room key. Breakfast had a good range of quality products. We stayed one night, then took the No 20 bus into Bordeaux city centre. The stop is about a 4-minute walk away, and the ride took 30 minutes. The return fare was 1E 60cents per person. We’d happily recommend the place and would stay again if we visit Bordeaux. Thank you.

We parked after 9pm and left early the next morning to continue our trip, but our car window had been smashed and things were stolen. Several other cars in the hotel car park had also been vandalised, with broken windows and items taken from inside. We were stuck until after 11am trying to find a way to fix the windows so we could get back on the highway. Happily, we’d left very little in the car, but they even took a child’s jacket. It’s shameful. Other cars seemed to belong to foreigners, including Spanish and British visitors. The hotel didn’t call the police. There was a camera, though I don’t know if it was fake or not working. I wonder whether any staff might be involved, but I can’t say. I don’t know if this is a refugee problem or if France is becoming a third world country. I won’t come back. There was no sense of safety.

Even though I had confirmed accommodation, there was no room for us when we arrived. We were told everything was fully booked, and it seems my reservation had been cancelled without telling me. We had to find another hotel at a higher price. That was completely unacceptable from the person responsible here. It doesn’t live up to the hotel’s name. The women at reception, though, really did try to sort it out, so thanks to them. Check your reservation even after it’s confirmed. Update 1: My credit card wasn’t invalid. If anyone had made an effort to check, they would have seen I paid with the same card listed in the reservation. The reservation said I would pay on arrival. Management deleted it before I got there, so I don’t understand how the card could supposedly have been invalid. Update 2: The hotel found only a partial solution, and it cost more. There was no intention to refund my losses.
