First time at the Sun Inn today, and we had Sunday lunch. It’s without doubt the best pub Sunday lunch I’ve had. The beef melted in my mouth and was delicious, even though I know it’s popular to have it still mooing. There were seven types of veg, and the Yorkshire pudding was cooked perfectly. The service was very good, and the staff were lovely.

The beach is clean and lovely, and seems to go on forever. Alnmouth itself is a picturesque little Northumberland village. At The Sun we tried the Ploughman's for 1, normally for 2 at £22, and crab sandwiches with freshly made salad for £23. The local Alnwick Ale was very nice too. It's dog friendly and open from 12:00 lunchtimes. Well worth stopping by.

After our walk in the Aln valley, we stopped at this lively, friendly bar for a drink. There was plenty of choice, including cask ales. When we got hungry, all three of us ordered fish finger stotties, or rolls as we southerners say, with fries. The fries were wonderfully light and crispy, and the food was delicious.

The room was clean and really comfortable for our stay. My sister and I visited from Saturday 2nd May until Bank holiday Monday. We also had a drink downstairs and pizza in the beer garden.

We thought the Sun Inn was lovely when we visited a few years back, but our opinion has really dropped since then. The rooms were very grubby and it wasn't worth the money.
