The cocktails are great value at £15 for 2, and Sam makes them with flair. The bar has a good selection of whiskeys and some funky spirits. Sam is a friendly, personable young barman who knows a lot about the building’s history. It’s a little gem with a great atmosphere and service. We’ll bring friends next time, and might even stay overnight. Highly recommended.

Our family group loved the cosy attic room, especially the view of the castle and the sound of the wind outside. It has two fully separate bedrooms with a corridor between them. There were plenty of teas and coffees, plus a really delicious rocky road. Breakfast was brilliant, and the ladies provided lovely service. We’d happily stay again. Thank you.

The room was comfortable, well equipped, and full of amazing decorative details. Breakfast was fantastic, especially the Eggs Benedict, which I’d highly recommend. Staff were friendly and easy to chat with. The lobby is unusual for a hotel, basically the pub and restaurant as you walk in, and we loved the 2-for-1 Prosecco. The location also made it easy to walk anywhere in Arundel. We were on the first floor facing the road, and cars were easy to hear outside. The patio doors didn’t block much noise. The train station is a bit of a problem, though that’s not the hotel’s fault.

The location is excellent for exploring town. We stayed one night in this little hotel above a bar. The staff were very friendly and breakfast was nice. The room had everything we needed and was comfortable, though it looked a little worn. There’s no evening food, but we’d booked a restaurant anyway.

We regretted booking this one-night stay. We chose the attic room because it was the only one with a shower and supposedly had castle views. The room was cold when we arrived, and the radiators were ice cold. I mentioned it to the chef, who was covering reception, and was told the boiler had broken and a plumber would be called. We stayed out all afternoon waiting for the heating to be fixed. The ceilings are low, the windows small, and the electric shower weak. At 5’11’ I scraped my head on the ceiling and bumped it against the eaves several times. I couldn’t sit up in bed because of the eaves. The shower was so low I had to duck under it. There’s a tiny TV that you can’t see from the bed. With so little insulation in the attic, we heard the wind all night. Once the radiators finally started working, there was a constant ticking from air in the system. We asked to speak with the owner three times and left my mobile number with three staff members because we wanted to give feedback in person. He never called. We paid £140 for one night, and it wasn’t worth half that. The room is small, old, and dated, and the owner doesn’t seem to care. Stay somewhere else.
