The Airport Tavern

Airport parking only review. We’d used the Airport Tavern for a few years, but after last night we’ve finally given up on them. When we got back, we called from the car park and were told a bus would come. We later realised someone else had called a few minutes before us. After 25 minutes waiting, I rang again and the driver told me they hadn’t been told anyone was waiting. The bus turned up 10 minutes later. There was no comment or apology from the driver, or from the person who handed our keys back, who I assume was the person I spoke to first. While we waited, the Oakwood airport parking bus came and went three times.

It’s a lovely little place and surprisingly quiet given how close it is to the airport. The price is reasonable, parking is free, and the beer garden looks like it’d be great when it’s warmer. I’d definitely stop here instead of using the airport waiting zone. It’s closer to the terminal, and you can have a cheeky pint too. Perfect!

I’ve parked here plenty of times, and it’s been a mixed bag. Getting the bus to the airport is always easy, and coming back, I’ve never had to wait too long. The problem has been the state of my car when I collect it. The inside is always dirty, with muddy or dusty floor mats, and the outside needs a wash too. Once, the passenger window had been left open and the inside got damp. My car has also smelled of stale smoke, even though nobody smokes in it.

The Airport Tavern is a handy, welcoming pub when flying from Bristol Airport. It’s clean, well kept and relaxed, with friendly, helpful staff. It made a nice spot for a pre flight pint or a drink after a holiday, and has a traditional pub feel without being pretentious. You can park nearby and take the bus to the airport for a fraction of the cost of airport parking or several taxi trips. The stop is right there, buses are frequent, and the terminal is only minutes away. Over a week away, I reckon the saving can be £50-100. It’s a good choice if you’re watching travel costs, celebrating the start of a holiday, or want a steadying drink before flying. Wish I’d found it sooner. Highly recommended.
