Burntwood Court Hotel

I've stayed at the burntwood lots of times for work over the past five years. It's quiet because of where it is, except when there's a wedding or event on. Then you really notice how thin the walls are. The staff are always pleasant, and the basic rooms have always had what I need. The bar menu hasn't changed in five years, and I think I've tried everything by now. The food is half decent, but steer clear of the steak.

The room was roomy, and the bed was comfortable. The receptionist at check-in was very friendly too. But the place felt tired and the room had an odour. There was mould on the bathroom grout, the taps and shower were noisy, and the TV was tiny by today's standards. The room was in an annex, so getting there meant going outside from the main hotel, into the annex, then outside again and through another door. It cost £135 for one night, room only, which was nowhere near worth it. Breakfast, the spa, and the pool all cost extra. Apparently breakfast would've been included if we'd booked directly instead of through Booking.com.

I went to an event on 02/12/2025 and it was a complete shambles. We waited over an hour for cold food because they were short staffed. I complained to the managers there and they weren't interested. After I got home, I emailed a complaint and was told a manager would contact me. It's now 27/12/2025 and I've heard nothing from one. They clearly don't care about customer service and just want people's money. I'd never had a problem before, but this time was very disappointing.

We were a group of 20, and the food came out pretty much together, so that was managed well. The staff were helpful and there were no mistakes. The main restaurant has lots of space and play areas for younger kids. We ordered food and drinks at the bar, where there can be a queue, though I think table service might also be available. The food was pretty good, with large portions and plenty of choice, but it seemed costly. I ordered the salmon dish for £18.50.
