The riverfront setting is lovely, with lots of seating indoors and outside, and the staff we spoke with were polite and pleasant. We came to The Boathouse as a family of 10 for a birthday, but the meal was a letdown. We spent over three and a half hours there. Service felt inattentive from the start: nobody came to take our drinks order for a long time, so we eventually ordered through the app. We asked for glasses and ended up fetching them ourselves. Getting someone to take our food order also meant asking several staff members. More than half of our first-choice dishes weren’t available, which was frustrating for a group of 10. Then we waited about an hour for the food. For the prices, the quality was well below what we expected. Some dishes arrived cold, and others seemed to have been left under heat lamps too long. We ate because we were so hungry by then, but it wasn’t an enjoyable meal. The location and friendly staff give the place a lot of potential, though in our experience the service organisation and food quality need major improvement.

We only ate at the restaurant and didn’t stay overnight. The terrace has fantastic river views, and it was a wonderful place to sit during the recent heatwave. The staff were warm and lovely, the food was great, and the cocktails and spritzers were very good. I’d especially recommend the terrine and flat iron harrissa chicken.

We spent the night here for our anniversary on December 23, and it was wonderful. The room was beautiful and exceptionally clean, and breakfast was generous and delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive, and we had a good evening with friends and enjoyed the food. I don’t eat out often, so the prices felt high to me, though I was told they’re normal for the area.

We had superb food and a warm welcome from the friendly team. The pub downstairs has lots of fires, which made for a lovely atmosphere. Our cosy room overlooked the river and had a very nice bathroom. The location is fantastic, close to the park and ride. Highly recommended!
