The Henry Guest House

Breakfast was fresh and really good. This little guesthouse is just around the corner from the town centre and an easy walk from the station. I had a cute, comfortable room upstairs. It was on the small side, but the website had made that clear, so I knew what to expect. The private bathroom was across the landing, and the bathrobe came in handy. The hairdryer could have used more heat and power, but that was a minor downside.

The room was old, musty and dusty, so it wasn't suitable for someone with a dust allergy. We complained through Airbnb, where we'd booked, and had to move to another hotel at double the price because it was such short notice. On our wedding anniversary trip, this turned into a very strange experience. The host reported that my husband and I had had a quarrel and said that was why we left. I found that absurd: there was no quarrel at all, and how would she know we were arguing unless she had been involved in our privacy?

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was served promptly and the portions were well prepared. On checkout day, they offered us use of the room for the rest of the day, since the next booking wasn't until the afternoon of the following day. We gladly accepted and used the facilities before catching our train. The location is convenient and walkable from the station or town centre. The house is Georgian, so the rooms are quite old-fashioned. Getting around there would be difficult for people with disabilities. The rooms could use more electrical outlets, and the Wi-Fi was poor.

The breakfast was fantastic, made to order, with a good selection of other items. The staff were so friendly and helpful, especially Christina. Our room was spotless and furnished with care and love. The Henry guest house is in the centre of Bath, near everything we wanted to see and do, and close to both the train station and car parks. We loved our stay. It was perfect for us, and I'd highly recommend it. If I return to Bath, this is where I'd choose to stay.
