The staff greeted us warmly and were really friendly. We each had a small roast, which was more than enough and cooked just right. Service was efficient too.

We visited about 20 pubs around North Devon over the weekend, and this place poured the best Guinness of the lot. A proper traditional pub.

A great little local. The food is straightforward, tasty home cooking, and really good value.

The acoustic music session on the first Thursday of each month is fun. Food was good and the welcome very friendly. The “new” owners have done a lot to improve the shabby-looking building it was about 10 years ago. There was an electrical problem when we visited, so only one beer was available on draught.

The hill it’s on is a bit of a shame, but it’s a great pub. The staff were lovely, especially Summer, who made my partner and me feel at home and was so welcoming.
