Baloci

We were there at prayer time, and the staff arranged a way for us to pray. Thanks especially to Saqlain and Khadija for the excellent service. My wife and I had the tasting menu, and the food was delicious. The portions were generous without leaving us stuffed. All the meat was cooked beautifully, and the flavours were rich but not too heavy. We’d be very happy to return.

April 2026: The mushroom soup and date pudding were good, and the scallop itself was cooked perfectly, but the rest of that dish didn’t suit me and didn’t taste good. The mains were disappointing. My monkfish was rubbery and badly overcooked, and the dish didn’t come together. My husband’s pasta Ragu was a bit bland. The service was friendly but painfully slow. Ask for extra sauce. A few years ago, around when they opened, I loved the cocktails and their complex flavours, and the way they guided you through the different rooms with their lovely settings. Service was excellent and many dishes were presented well. The fish was really good, though the unseasoned half tomato underneath it felt random and unnecessary. The menu said baklava for dessert, so I expected something like the actual dessert, but it came as an ice cream flavour instead. The biryani could have used a little more rice with the meat, though that’s nitpicking. My favourites were the kebab and biryani. The carrot and broccoli with the Nihari were seasoned nicely, and the lamb portion was generous for a tasting menu. They were happy to add spice and a little heat to some dishes. The sorbets between courses were palate cleansers, though not very smooth in texture, which was okay. I also liked the complimentary cocktails at the start. I’d recommend trying the restaurant and its food, especially the cocktails.

The upstairs rooms are beautiful. After Fara showed them to us and helped us book the hotel at short notice, we knew right away that we wanted to celebrate our upcoming wedding there. We can’t wait to come back with our family and friends. Our meal at Baloci was fantastic too. The atmosphere feels warm and stylish without being too formal. I had fresh, creamy burrata, then the Silk Road Ragù, with perfectly cooked pasta and tender, flavourful beef. Everything tasted fresh and homemade, and looked lovely. The tiramisu was a great finish. Thanks to all the waiting staff for being so friendly and attentive through the evening. We highly recommend Baloci for the food, service and special atmosphere.

Since the management changed, this restaurant has improved a lot. The atmosphere, service and overall experience were excellent. Matt deserves a special mention for his warm hospitality and outstanding service. He made sure we felt welcome and looked after throughout. Great food and vibes too. I’ll definitely come back and would recommend it.
