Stanhope Old Hall

We arrived at the Stanhope Old Hall tired, hungry, and completely soaked, on the second night of our Coast to Coast trip. Diane offered us tea and quickly put together a hearty Sunday roast for dinner. It was lovely. The room was spacious and cosy, and the house is stunning. Diane is a lovely host. If you're walking the Coast to Coast or spending a weekend in the Pennines, I'd make sure to book a couple of nights. We couldn't have asked for more, and I'll definitely return.

My new wife and I spent our honeymoon night at stanhope old hall. They made us feel welcome with friendly smiles and a chat. The evening meal was fantastic, and the complimentary bottle of prosecco was very kind. The meals are restaurant quality, five star, at very reasonable prices. Our room was clean, warm, cosy, and lovely, with fresh scented linen. Breakfast had plenty to choose from and was very nice.

We stayed for two nights in D3c, in the family room, and it was perfect: clean, spacious, and comfortable. Diane and her family were incredibly welcoming and always glad to help. The food and hospitality were excellent. We've already booked for next year and would recommend it to anyone.

The food was fantastic, and the staff were just as good. We were given a dining voucher by family members who'd eaten here before and recommended the restaurant. When we arrived a little early, they warmly and politely offered us the choice of waiting in the bar or going to our ready table to order drinks and look over the menu. We chose the table. The dining room felt very old world, with a roaring log fire that was especially welcome in the freezing weather. The menu isn't extensive, but I'd say it caters to all tastes; I was told it changes regularly and with the seasons. I like a short menu, as it means the chef can really excel at what's on offer.
