Manhattan Hotel

The rooms and hotel were OK, and Ivan, a nice guy who lived there, was a saving grace. We kept running into him in the smoking area. He knew good places for us and the kids to visit, and we enjoyed his suggestions. He also helped us see the humour in the situation and made the stay more bearable. The atmosphere was ruined by the manager. At check-in she said we were late, then shouted at the children for stretching their legs after a three-hour journey. In the lounge she told us to lock ourselves out because she wouldn't be happy. She shouted at the kids again when we returned after parking. The bar wasn't open to children on Friday or Saturday night, despite the booking information online saying otherwise. We saw the manager entertaining men in the smoking area at night, getting drunk and loud. When my husband went down later to ask about the heating, she started flirting with him and said it was a shame he couldn't pop down. Later there was more loud shouting and talking while she played with a young guy, then more adult verbal behaviour. Family hotel? I strongly advise against staying here. Other reviews describe similar things. I emailed the booking websites to say the place isn't a family hotel, in the hope other guests' breaks won't be ruined by this manager's ongoing swinging holiday.

The manager treated us like family and was very polite, as were the staff. They were kind and generous, and gave my brother-in-law a free three-night stay at the hotel. I loved the NYC theme in the room, from the bedding and mirror to the walls. We were very happy with the service, had an excellent experience, and would love to come back again and again. Thanks.

It's close to the sea, but I'm not even staying at this hotel and could hear staff shouting at each other out the back door all night, like some comedy show. Maybe it was a maid or something. Either way, all night it was a Spanish lady shouting at the top of her lungs out the door. 👍

Please avoid this place. It wasn't a guesthouse, it was a filthy bedsit. Cigarette stains were everywhere, and the front door was wedged open for anyone to come in. Beyond disgusting.
