The old-fashioned decor gives the place a bit of charm, and everything was clean and nicely presented. The rooms are reasonable, breakfast was excellent, and for the price it’s a good no-fuss traditional guest house.

We only meant to stay two nights, but ended up with four lovely days at Gail’s. She’s always smiling and lovely to deal with, and the breakfast was absolutely fantastic, with fresh cold orange juice and milk. The rooms were nice and it was great value. The hotel’s central location made it really handy for visiting places, and I’d happily return. My grandfather and I arrived on Saturday afternoon and Gail, the owner, greeted us warmly. She was very pleasant and friendly. Our en-suite double was small but fine for sleeping, with tea, coffee and a TV in the room. Breakfast was very good and plentiful.

The food was delicious when I stayed at The Lane hotel with my dad and brother for a three-day holiday a few years ago. Gail was the best, and The Lane Hotel is still my number one favourite. I’ll definitely return to The Lanes Hotel when I’m on holiday.
