The seafront location is just about perfect, with a large car park at the front. We found it great value overall, with friendly staff, comfortable rooms, and all-inclusive food and entertainment. We paid around £279 per person for five nights during tinsel and turkey week, with my wife's mum and her friends. There was live entertainment every night, which was very good, plus Bingo with good cash prizes. The room was spacious and had a comfy double bed, a bath as well as a shower, and free tea and coffee making facilities. My wife loves a bath, so that was a bonus. The TV was on the small side, though we didn't spend much time in the room. Dinner was lovely. I especially enjoyed the cold cooked meat starters, and my steak with potatoes and vegetables was very nice. Breakfast was filling and lovely too. The stairs could be awkward depending on which side of the hotel you're on. One side has two floors, and the second floor involves some steps. On the side with four floors, the lift only goes to the third, so you have to take stairs to the fourth. The atmosphere was pleasant from the moment we arrived, with a good mix of people from all walks of life.

We recently stayed here with my husband. The location was good, the staff were excellent, and there was great entertainment at the adjoining venue. Free parking on site was handy too. Staff communicated really well before our visit and deserve a shout out. The place does need attention, though. The decor is scruffy and it could use a deep clean. The layout was confusing, and I got lost when I tried the stairs. The lift only fits two people and wasn't a nice experience.

The staff deserve credit for being loyal to the hotel and good with customers. We've stayed four times, but for now a fifth visit isn't on the cards. The rooms need upgrading, and there's no socket beside the bed, which is essential for medical equipment. Extension leads are sometimes available, but there's no guarantee, so we'd be reluctant to return. The food is fine, though predictable, and the hotel is well positioned. Entertainment is okay, but having Bingo between the two acts doesn't suit us. The main daytime lounge is too small and noisy, and I wonder why the room used for evening entertainment can't be opened during the day.

The staff are very friendly, but we noticed a real change from last year. There was no Saturday lunch, and the evening buffet had a poor selection. There wasn't a choice between roast and mashed potatoes. We upgraded our drinks package and still had to pay £1 for bottled water. The rooms need updating too. The entertainment can be poor at times. For me, Buddy Lee is what makes the difference at this hotel. Viking hotel blackpool, please bring back more choice at mealtimes and don't cut out a lunch.

We had a lovely, comfortable room overlooking the promenade, and it was very clean. The food and staff were first class, and the entertainment was brilliant, with two acts each night and Buddy Lee as a great compare. The Viking Hotel in Blackpool is ideal for a weekend away, with trams and buses right outside.
