Tremains Guest House

Howell was up and ready to make breakfast when I came down to sign out, and it was lovely. We had a nice chat over a fry-up and freshly made coffee. He told me he’d been in hospitality since he was 16. I’d come down the road after I couldn’t get into Cardiff because of some rugby game, and needed a place to rest overnight for work. Howell, the owner, welcomed me and showed me to a single room that suited me well: bed, TV, shower, tea and coffee, and excellent wifi. It’s a good old-fashioned B&B in the nicest sense, with a wonderfully welcoming host.

The only part I wasn’t completely sure about was the spring mattress. It wasn’t fully comfortable, though I still got a decent night’s sleep. The room was a lovely size, clean, comfortable and had everything I needed. Hal, the owner, was kind and helpful, and the guest house felt warm and welcoming. Breakfast was in a beautiful, light and airy dining room. I’d definitely stay again.

Howell was a brilliant host, and the rooms had everything we needed. The breakfast was excellent, and the whole place was SPOTLESS. The fixtures and fittings are dated, but the place has loads of character and adds to the friendly feel. We’ll definitely stay again next time we’re in Bridgend. Thanks Howell.

The decor is a little dated, but that hardly mattered when everything else was so good. Howell was friendly and welcoming, and breakfast was brilliant, cooked fresh to order. Everywhere was spotlessly clean, with fresh towels each day. Highly recommended.
