Breakfast had a huge choice and was plentiful, cooked to order, and there were plenty of wooden coat hangers, a first for me at a hotel. Our room was bright, spacious and well furnished, with lovely pictures, a TV positioned so everyone could see it, and thoughtful finishing touches. The bathroom had ample towels, shampoo and shower gel. The hotel was clean throughout, and the family business seems very well run. Everyone treated us courteously, and someone came to ask if all was well or if we needed anything, a brilliant touch. My only suggestion is a non-slip surface in the bath for safe showering. Well done Adelaide House, and thanks for a perfect weekend. I’d definitely return and recommend it.

The owners were rude, and the man was aggressive. There was no customer service at all, and it seems they should’ve sold the hotel some time ago. The shower swung between scalding hot and cold. Deserves zero stars. I wouldn’t recommend it or go back.

How this can be called a hotel is beyond me. We paid just over £100 for a room with peeling wallpaper, a damp ceiling with holes, and a shower over the bath that wouldn’t stay up, so we couldn’t use it. There was a gap under the door too, and the list goes on. They weren’t friendly either. It needs major work, and I wouldn’t stay again.

Breakfast was very good, and the staff did their best to accommodate what I asked for. Adelaide House is clean and well run, close to the sea. My room was on the small side but perfectly adequate. I’d stay there again.

We booked for Friday and Saturday, 9/10 October 2015, but left on Saturday afternoon because the room made us feel so miserable we just wanted to go home. The bathroom was tiny, the paint above us in room 26 looked awful, and even the door was filthy. The carpet from the entrance to the rooms was horribly dirty and smelled unbelievable. The staff seemed rushed, and the sheets and duvet cover looked dreadful. I really doubt the cover had been changed after every guest. For what it cost, this hotel/house was rubbish. Be careful booking.
