The beer garden was packed with people enjoying some sunshine at last, always a good sign. The staff at this quirky little hotel were so welcoming. The rooms are a little tired, like most Greene King Hotels, but the bar, restaurant and beer garden are well kept. We’ll definitely be back.

Dan and the whole team looked after us so well when I stayed with friends after a night out in Bristol. We had drinks in the bar, and breakfast the next morning was excellent. The beds were comfortable and the location suited us perfectly.

Brad was helpful and always good for a laugh, especially when his car is working. Taylor was kind and funny too. I’ve been coming to the Channings in Clifton for years, so I’ve got to know the team, especially Meg, who I’ve known for over five years and who never fails to make you smile. Dan, the general manager, is a genuinely good man. They’re a really nice team.

Such a nice spot to sit out in the sun, with good lager and lovely people around. Lucy was a delight, and the staff and atmosphere were both lovely.

The room was shabby and could use serious attention. The bed was uncomfortable, and the man snoring next door might as well have been in my room. Staff asking whether my name was real felt rather personal. The stay itself was okay, though at least I had a roof for the night. The lost property issue was the last straw. They won't send it back even though I'm arranging and paying for collection, and insist I collect it in person. You know why people stay in hotels, right? I won't stay here again if I'm in Bristol.
