Future Inns Cardiff Bay

We were eight people across three families, staying for just one night, and the price was very reasonable with breakfast and parking included. The hotel is an easy walk from everything the Bay has to offer. Our room was comfortable and much larger than those at its Premier rivals, and I liked the clever en-suite door. Breakfast was among the best I’ve had at a hotel. The staff were friendly and efficient. We’d definitely recommend it and come back on our next visit.

I was unwell during our stay, and the maids were thoughtful about leaving me in peace. The suite we moved to after a leak had a handy refrigerator, so I could keep water and a sandwich cold. Staff were helpful, and the place was clean and quiet, with free parking and an 8 minute walk to the Bay. The sitting room could use a light you can switch on without getting out of bed.

The staff were polite and helpful, and the food at Thomas restaurant was decent pub grub for the price, though nothing special. They add a discretionary tip to the bill, so you have to ask for it to be removed if you don’t want to pay it. We stayed several nights and, although the towels were changed, the cups and glasses weren’t. I wouldn’t want them washed in the bathroom sink anyway. There was also a urine smell in the toilet, which others have mentioned. Maybe it’s got into the grout on the tiled floor. We booked a King Suite because the website photos looked lovely, but the fruit bowl was disappointing: three apples that weren’t very fresh and one pear, instead of the pictured assortment. The listing promised still and sparkling water, but we got one sparkling bottle. There were only three Dolce gusto pods, so two guests couldn’t have two each, and the note said extras cost £2 per drink. Ocado sells eight for £5.15. It was our first time with Future Inn. With more care, it could’ve been a great stay, but I’m not sure I’d return.

We spent the New Year holidays here, and it was one of the better places we stayed. The hotel is close to the city centre, with plenty of places to eat within walking distance. Our family room was spacious and clean, the staff were consistently helpful, and parking was complimentary.
