The location made this a handy base for exploring Belfast. We took the train in, which was quick and inexpensive, and avoided having to park and drive in the city. From the hotel you can also walk to restaurants, the station, the castle, a grocery store, and along the bay. There's plenty of free parking at the hotel, and the front desk staff were very helpful when we accidentally left something in our room. The interior looks better than the outside, though the hotel is beginning to show its age.

Premier Inn in Carrickfergus does hospitality really well. The staff I met were all first class, cheerful, and happy to help. Coming in from the storm to such a warm, genuine Northern Ireland welcome felt like arriving among family. The lady looking after breakfast was especially great, attentive and friendly, and very good at her job. I can't remember her name, but she's from Liverpool. I stayed October 30-31, 2025, on a quick visit back to Norn Iron. The wind and sideways rain were fierce, and we'd already made two quick visits before actually landing for real because of the weather. I'd been staying with the Premier Inn family for a couple of years, but this was a particularly welcoming reception. The public areas were clean, tidy, and well cared for, with no odd smells, strange noises, or anything broken. My room was spotless, with a very comfortable bed and a great shower. I don't need much, but it would have met higher expectations too. I barely heard the storm outside, let alone other noise. I miss the Ulster Fry when I'm away from Northern Ireland, so I was pleased by how good this one was, as good as any I've had in central Belfast. It had beans and mushrooms, which the purists may notice, but I'm fine with those. There was great bacon, black pudding, sausage, fried soda bread, and potato bread. If you haven't tried an Ulster Fry, you really should, though your heart might object if you have too many, and who can say how many is too many? I also had delicious porridge, or oatmeal, and a great pot of tea. The breakfast room window looks out onto Carrickfergus Castle, built in 1177. Maybe they were glad the Premier Inn was there while it was being built! With hotels like this around, I don't see why anyone would pay a small fortune for a room. Thanks to everyone at Premier Inn, Carrickfergus. 10/10.

I've only just arrived and won't check out until next week, but this has been a great start to the trip. Carol, Mary, and Nichola at reception were lovely and professional. They even offered me a cup of coffee when I arrived.

Quiet, clean, and comfortable, with the coast nearby. The rooms are cosy, service is dependable, and the price is good, so it's a practical spot for a relaxed visit.

For £48, one night was brilliant value. The beds are always comfortable, and the staff were the best part of the stay. The woman who checked us in on Thursday evening was so lovely, as was the woman on checkout around 7 Friday morning. We had dinner and drinks in the restaurant, where Ben, Lauren, and Rachel looked after us. No doubt staff would do what they could if noisy neighbours caused a problem. We'd have no hesitation staying again. Thank you to the lovely team!
