The Vine Hotel

The lager was flat and horrible, and we all left after one drink. When we asked why there was only one member of staff on for a wedding, the bar staff swore at us and told us to go if we didn’t like it. Disgraceful. We’ll never go again.

The rooms were dirty, smelly and noisy, nowhere near fit for purpose. They were advertised as luxury boutique rooms, but were far from that. We booked two nights, had to stay the first because there was nowhere else available, then left first thing in the morning. I’m still waiting for a refund.

The music is remarkably loud all day, every day, especially on Sunday evening. I don’t know how people living nearby put up with it, but it hardly makes Chapel St. Leonards feel like a quiet village. If you want a drink there and can handle the deafening music and karaoke, bring cash, since it’s cash only.

Nice pub and good service, but the toilets are always in a bad state: never any toilet rolls and always blocked. The cleaner should check, clean and restock them each day. This isn’t a one-off, it happens all the time. The hotel might be spotless, but they need to pay attention to downstairs too.
