A friend and I walked into the pub, and before we could order anything the owner made a slit neck gesture and said we were barred. There was no explanation. He humiliated us in front of a busy pub full of locals, and the whole thing felt aggressive and bizarre. I’ve never had such unprofessional treatment from a business. Avoid this place if basic decency and customer service matter to you.

Cricklade is lovely to visit, with some good places to have a drink, so I’d spend my money elsewhere. The landlord here has quite a talent for making people feel unwelcome, and is impressively rude. Avoid this inn at all costs, unless a different experience is what you’re after.

Cricklade is a beautiful village, and a nice place to stay near the Cotswolds. The room in the pub was really nice, though nothing was perfect. We stayed here for the first few days of our holiday, then came back for the last few. We recommend it.

We stayed in a petite twin room while walking the Thames Path. It had everything we needed, and the shower was great: clean, powerful and really hot after a day on the trails.
