The Pelican Inn

We dropped in for a couple of pints and to hear a local singer play an acoustic set. Such a cosy little place, with a lovely bar. The lady behind it was great, a proper landlady, and the locals were all friendly. A few of them gave us tips on the area, and those turned out to be absolute gems. We’ll definitely come back next time we’re in this part of the country.

We’d meant to go to another pub during the Christmas holiday, but it was closed. Glad we ended up here. The landlady was so friendly, and the staff and locals were welcoming. We had food and a couple of drinks; it was really good, with big portions. The lamb shank was especially nice and tender. A good old-fashioned pub, definitely recommend.

The back garden was such a nice place to sit in the sun, and the other guests were friendly too. Even the dog was lovely 🥰 I came for lunch absolutely starving and ordered a huge sharing platter all to myself, so I ended up taking some home 😅 Everything from the food and service to the atmosphere was amazing. I’m already thinking about coming back for Sunday roast 😋

We haven’t stayed overnight, but we do come to the pub and restaurant. Their traditional Sunday lunch needs booking ahead and has a legendary reputation. There’s a great range of vegetables cooked just right, proper old-school puddings, and even a vegetarian option.
