The view from our cabin was the main event. We watched sunrises over Loch Ness, then moonlight sparkling on the water, and even ate meals on the private back porch patio. Our two-night stay at Drumnadrochit Lodges was the most memorable part of our eleven-day Scotland tour. We had Premier Type B Lodge No 3, which worked perfectly for our family of four, two adults and children aged three and five. It was spotlessly clean, with a well-stocked, useful kitchen and washer/dryer. The owner was friendly and helpful, even when travel delays meant we arrived after 8pm. Loch Ness attractions were about a five-minute drive away, while the lodge still felt like a country retreat. I wasn't sure what to expect from the coin-operated power, but the owner changed money for us, so we didn't need to find coins. We could manage our energy use and never ran out or felt inconvenienced. Honestly, I can't think of any cons. This was our favorite stay in Scotland, and we can't wait to return.

Even in chilly October we felt very comfortable here. The living room was cozy, with SAT TV, and the large windows gave us lovely views over Loch Ness. It's a family-friendly, spacious lodge for six, with a kitchen equipped much like home: dishwasher, washer/dryer, coffee machine, toaster, kettle, plenty of crockery and glasses. Everything was tidy. Power is prepaid with coins, and each room has its own heating. The duvets were warm, and there was heating in the bed too. The shower head only gave a small amount of water, and the double beds are quite small, but the place had what we needed for a relaxing stay.

We had a booking at Drumnadrochit Lodges for a few weeks later, but we've had to cancel and are really upset about it. We live in the Midlands and had planned for two drivers to take turns as we travelled through Scotland. Three of the four of us have underlying conditions, and the government advice meant we couldn't go. I contacted the Lodges to ask if they could keep our deposit for a future stay. They flatly refused. The other places on our Scotland trip either refunded us, didn't charge us, or moved our deposits to a later date. I'm very disappointed with Mr Spences decision, and we won't book with him in future. Thanks for nothing.

We lost half the money we paid, and after several emails the owner still wouldn't refund us. I also felt the owner had lied to me on the phone. If this had been our own fault, I would have accepted it, but we had to cancel because of the Covid-19 outbreak. We had also had to cancel our wedding, so losing part of the honeymoon payment was upsetting. I would have expected a business like this to have insurance or a contingency plan. It all seemed a bit shady, and I won't use or recommend this business again. It's a shame, because the place does look fantastic. We'd paid in full months ahead for our honeymoon and contacted the lodges for advice about cancelling. The man I spoke to said it was all down to booking.com, so I contacted them to cancel. When I asked booking.com about losing half our money, they said it was the owner's decision, even though I'd already spoken to him.

The owners were great, and the cabin was comfortable with impressive views. It's also close to all the sites around. A fantastic place, highly recommended.
