Himley Country Hotel

I stayed on 17 December and had a decent night. The room was clean and warm, and I slept well. The man at reception was welcoming and polite, and for the price I paid I couldn’t ask for more. I know hotels like this lost a lot of support during the pandemic, with tens of thousands of pounds lost. I’ve stayed in plenty of worse places and would return. Keep up the good work, staff, and thanks for a nice stay. Room 212. D.P.

I lasted about 10 minutes before leaving. The place was damp, run-down and smelled awful. There was other people’s hair in the bed, sink and all over the bathroom, and the leaking sink had left water across the floor. I told reception it was filthy, and they said, “sorry no refund.” The worst hotel I’ve ever been in. Stay away. The owners should be embarrassed to charge for these rooms.

The room itself was in an unacceptable state, with bed springs coming through the mattress. We were also told the heating wasn’t working in other rooms. Our own heater was hanging loose from the wall, and broken curtains were draped over it, making the room a clear fire hazard. The power kept cutting out during the night. The outside security door had been left open, so anyone could walk right into the building, and none of the advertised facilities were available or open. Staff were unhelpful and seemed unable to deal with the several problems we reported. The stay felt like “Faulty Towers” without the humour. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

Absolutely vile. Mould everywhere, grubby pancake-thin pillows on each bed, a cold shower with no hot water, and dreadful customer service. There’s also a huge pile of rubbish outside in the car park. Disgusting.
