Pacific Heights

The apartment was clean and well equipped, and booking it and collecting the keys was easy. But the stay was very disappointing. We'd chosen it mainly for the balcony and its view, and the scaffolding completely spoiled that. We should have been told beforehand. It felt like being on a building site, with the constant noise from the work. The bigger problem was the neighbours. On the first evening, within five minutes of us having drinks on the balcony, a resident nearby shouted a stream of abuse. Another full-time resident told us this happens regularly and that the woman is known for these outbursts. It wasn't language suitable for our nine-year-old. It happened nearly every night around 8pm, often with an ambulance and police attending. On Sunday at 7am, another resident woke us by shouting on the phone, again using disgusting language. We'd booked in good faith and planned to spend much of our time in the apartment, as I needed to work while my partner and her daughter explored the area. Being told to “go for a walk or a meal” and “let this blow over” wasn't acceptable. We weren't comfortable spending any time there from the moment we arrived. We already made our dissatisfaction clear to the owner or business and got nowhere, so no response is needed.

A nice little area. I visited a friend who lives there, and it's a great place.

Really nice place, I'd recommend it.
