Chalk Farm Hotel LDC

Our attic room had beautiful views over the farm, and the price was a real surprise. We stayed two nights while visiting family down south and slept really well. The welcome felt warm and homely, and the service was wonderful. There were a couple of niggles, with showers that sometimes didn’t work properly and uneven floors, but we’d definitely stay again.

The main room is cosy and works perfectly for our events. We’ve held a few things here recently, including sound baths, and they’ve all been lovely. I also run a fitness class here for adults with learning disabilities, and they all love the space 💖.

We booked one night on Boxing Day as a treat after a busy festive period. The room seemed OK at first, but there was a large water tank in the bedroom ceiling right above the bed, filling up noisily through the night. Reception said there were no other rooms. The manager came to hear it himself but couldn’t offer an alternative, so we left at 3am in freezing weather. I paid £145 of my hard-earned money, and after several calls, messages and voicemail messages, I still hadn’t heard anything after seven days about a refund. I’ll pursue it further by other means. A very unpleasant experience during what was otherwise a happy holiday period.

A quiet, charming B&B with clean rooms, a comfortable bed, friendly staff and a great breakfast. The Red Lion pub nearby is a good place for lunch or dinner. Highly recommended.
