A friendly proprietor and a quiet spot, with clean rooms and a good breakfast. It’s near some restaurants and a huge Lidl, as well as Haymarket station and the airport buses. You can walk into town if you enjoy walking.

The location is a plus, very central near Haymarket, with bars and supermarkets nearby. We stayed one night and it was okay, but for a still fairly high price, the service didn’t feel worth it. The rooms are dated and look thrown together, the bathrooms are shared like in a hostel, and the bathroom we used wasn’t very clean. They cover the basics, but that’s about it.

We were happy with what we got for the price, especially since we were there during Fringe and the rooms cost a fraction of what other hotels charged. The hotel is very basic, with no private bathrooms and dated interiors. The carpet in our room and in the hallway didn’t look particularly clean. Still, the beds were very comfortable, and it was easy to get to both the airport and town.

Since it was very inexpensive and I only needed a bed for the night, it did the job. I knew the bathroom was shared, but the overflowing bin wasn’t great. The place seemed reasonably clean overall, though checking the mattress worried me: it had huge yellow stains all over it, so because it was hot I slept on top of the duvet. Breakfast was fine, with no complaints from me. The dining room was very clean and had a good choice of toast, cereal, and fruit. A cooked breakfast can be too much for me anyway. I don’t think I’ll return unless I only need a bed for one night.

We could hear conversations going on through the night because the walls were so thin. Our room was right beside the staff and owners’ room, which was the only reason we gave the place three stars. The staff were very friendly, the room and bed were comfortable, and the location was handy. Bus stops are a two-minute walk away, and the Royal Mile and City Center are about a 20-minute walk.
