The room was roomy and tidy, with a decent bed and clean sheets, and the staff were friendly and tried to help. But the building is old and budget, so there wasn't much they could do about the cold and damp. Heating only came on for 2-3 hours in the morning, and the hot tap and shower never gave more than lukewarm water. Breakfast was mixed: the toast, butter and coffee were good, but I didn't care for the cheeses or jams.

We had a quiet stay in a great location, and the rooms were large. The bathroom was cramped and leaked, though, and the water pressure was poor. There were also management hiccups while the current owner was selling the place to new people, so the website and what we were told didn't always line up.

The place was easy enough to find, and the parking area could hold around six cars. We got there early, at 10am, but were allowed into room number 5. The beds weren't comfortable, with just one pillow each. There was banging and shouting overnight while we were trying to sleep, and we could hear what sounded like water leaking somewhere. The shared toilet wasn't in the room, and the place overall didn't look very clean. We didn't stay for breakfast or have dinner there.

The room was freezing when we got in, with single-glazed windows that let all the heat out. I had a little money spider crawling on me in bed, and spent the night feeling like things were crawling everywhere. I feel as if I've been bitten all over. There were dirty pillows, dusty lamps, damaged wall behind the headrest, and doors that didn't lock properly. The bathroom was about the size of a shoebox, and its extractor fan made a horrible noise. Even getting into the car park was a hassle, and nobody was at the property when we arrived; they were across the street. For £70, the bedroom sleeps four, so if none of that bothers you, go ahead. I won't stay here again. I can't think of a single positive, and if there were a zero-star rating, I'd give it that.
