Dene Guest House

Hamish made arriving at 3 am painless, and left a nice range of breakfast cereals for the mornings we had to head out quickly. We stayed a couple of nights in a second-floor room with a pleasant view and a cool breeze. My fiancée slept fine in the queen bed, though the sheets had a slight smell. The shower was spotless and powerful, like a fire hose. We liked the decor and the cozy neighborhood too.

We stayed five nights and really enjoyed how peaceful the neighborhood was. The shared bathroom caused no trouble, since we hardly ever had to wait. As budget travelers, having free cereal and coffee and access to a fridge was a big plus. Dene Guest House was immaculate, and Hamish and his Spanish wife were so friendly and accommodating. We’d happily return.

Ilio and Hamish made us feel very welcome and had plenty of tips for our stay. The room was lovely and clean, and we liked the mix of the old house with modern furniture, equipment and decor. There’s a comfortable lounge on the ground floor, plus cereal and milk for breakfast and a basket of hygiene items. Very recommendable. Thanks, Ilio and Hamish 😊

Breakfast was generous and had a good range of choices. Simone, Jean-Pierre and the rest of the staff made me feel very welcome at this small, quaint B&B in a typical Edinburgh New Town house. My single room was small and the shared bathroom was out in the hallway, but that suited my stay just fine. I enjoyed a few nights here. Princess Street is under a mile away, though the walk uphill into town is long, so be ready for it or take the bus from just around the corner.
