Haymarket Apartments

We left within an hour and booked another hotel that same day because the apartment was impossible to stay in. There were dead insects on the sofa bed, and the room was extremely dirty. It was also much smaller than the photos suggested, which felt misleading and was disappointing. When we contacted staff straight away, they said the team had already left for the afternoon and the problem couldn't be dealt with until the next day. We didn't think anyone should have to sleep in those conditions. Management then handled things badly: no apology, no alternative room and no concern for our situation. After several attempts to get in touch, they refunded just one of the three nights, even though we hadn't used the apartment at all. We've been waiting months for a proper refund and are still being ignored. Based on what happened, the place was dirty and misleading, and the management seemed unprofessional and unconcerned about guests or basic hygiene.

The apartment was clean, nicely decorated, well laid out and had everything I needed. The bed was comfortable, and after busy days travelling around and beyond the city, I slept well. Its location was excellent too. I was there alone for three nights and had a perfect stay. Before travelling to the UK, I asked a couple of questions about getting in and leaving my luggage on checkout day. Alastair, the owner, replied quickly with clear instructions, so getting into the apartment was easy. On checkout day, he kept my bags for a few hours. When I came back, my entry code had stopped working, which impressed me as a security measure. Alastair was there and opened the door right away, then showed me the other rooms they have. I'm very happy with my stay and would recommend the apartment to friends and family visiting the city.

The apartment itself is a real plus, with nice decor, good facilities and a sense of safety. Ours had a kitchenette, microwave, iron, hair dryer, toiletries, fluffy towels, plenty of heating, window shutters and a decent-sized TV. The price was very reasonable, and there are plenty of popular attractions nearby. It's in a popular part of Edinburgh, with buses and trams running regularly almost at the door. Tickets are worth getting if you want to save some walking to the old town and elsewhere. My only issue was nighttime noise, which went on later than I expected and badly affected my sleep both nights. I chose to stay in a lively area, but I'd definitely bring earplugs. Apart from that, it was a five-star place.

We spent three days in these apartments, and it was a very relaxing stay. There were a couple of bedrooms, a fully equipped bathroom and toilet, plus a kitchen and a dining area that doubled as a small living room. It worked well for the three of us. The location is excellent, almost on the high street, four minutes on foot from the train station, with a decent selection of shops and places to eat nearby.
