Mount Royal Hotel Edinburgh by The Unlimited Collection

After a six-hour drive I was feeling stressed, but the friendly, helpful welcome soon put us at ease. Our suite was spacious, warm, and comfortable, with a great view of the Castle. No bath, but I can't be sure we checked before booking. The balcony was fantastic for watching life in Edinburgh go by, with the sun rising behind the Scottish Moment and setting behind the castle. We had a couple of technical issues, and the hotel responded quickly and brilliantly. David deserves special thanks and a lot of praise. The refurbishment of some facilities didn't bother us at all. For parking, you need to use a secure car park a few minutes' walk away. There's a discount, and we left the car there for four days without any problems. Contact Hotel for details. The main drawback was the poor sound insulation. We could hear noise from outside and between rooms. Private taxis and ride-hailing cars also can't reach the hotel from the same street, so managing our luggage meant going to nearby side streets to meet them, which was challenging when arriving and leaving. Otherwise, we had a pleasant stay. The hotel was very clean and conveniently located near Edinburgh's major attractions, making it easy to get around. Staff were friendly, professional, and quick to respond to requests. Special thanks to Lucy for her attentive, outstanding service, which made our stay more comfortable and enjoyable. Highly recommended.

The view from my room was fantastic, and the thoughtful details throughout my stay made the experience memorable. The staff were welcoming, knew the area well, and were happy to offer local suggestions. Archie deserves a special mention. He was exceptionally warm and friendly, shared great tips on city attractions, and made check-in feel personal and easy. I'd definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Edinburgh.

The room and its daily service were the best parts of our stay. It was clean and spacious, with an amazing view of Princes St. Gardens and the Christmas market. The location is fantastic if you want to be central, and the good outweighed the bad enough that I'd probably stay again. The hotel needs a major upgrade and looks like it's from the 90s. There was a horrible perfume smell in the entryway, and the restroom near the front desk, which we used to freshen up after arriving in the city, smelled even worse. The front desk staff weren't friendly or very helpful. Thankfully, we didn't need much from them.
