Moxy Edinburgh

A central hotel with friendly people, great facilities, and rooms that are comfortable and thoughtfully equipped. The bathroom mirror was especially handy, well lit and at the right height for putting on makeup. I also loved having a plug halfway up the wall, so I could use the hairdryer while looking in the mirror without stretching the cord.

I slept well without earplugs because the hotel was so quiet. The room was cozy, spacious, modern in design, and laid out so everything had its place. Breakfast was tasty, with a wide choice of food in a typical buffet setup. This was one of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed in. It’s about a kilometer from the Scottish monument, and the city centre, including the castle and Royal Mile, is all within walking distance.

The rooftop bar was a perfect place for a sunset cocktail or two, and breakfast had a brilliant variety of lovely options. The staff were welcoming and helpful, and we enjoyed our stay overall. The downside was unexpected daytime construction directly above our top-floor room. It was incredibly loud, like big metal girders being dropped and heavy footsteps overhead. With the kettle on, it honestly sounded as if a builder was about to come through the roof for a brew. We were out and about during the day, luckily, but it wouldn’t be good for anyone needing a daytime nap or working from the room.

The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, and breakfast had lots of choices, including gluten-free options. Our twin room was spacious and had all the amenities we needed to be comfortable. The location is great, with plenty of restaurants around and a small Tesco right next door. Princess street and Edinburgh castle are only a 10-minute walk away. We’d definitely stay again.
