No. 53 Frederick Street

The room was stylish, spotless, bright, and spacious, with very comfortable mattresses. We were right in the heart of Edinburgh, within walking distance of all the main sights, so we didn’t need public transport. The neighborhood had a great feel and lots of good places to eat and drink. A small fridge in the room would have been useful. It also gets a lot of sun and can feel a bit warm during the day, though that wasn’t a problem for us since most days were cloudy and there was a small fan. It might be worth considering on sunnier days.

The hosts were proactive and communication was easy, and the porter was especially kind and helpful. He made carrying two 25kg bags look effortless. Without him we’d have been gasping for air climbing to our third-floor room. For our 4D3N stay, the three of us had a spacious room with a huge bed and lots of pillows. The floor was a little dusty, but everything else was clean. It’s an easy-to-find location, a good 13-15 minute walk uphill from Waverly station, and there’s a bus station nearby that takes you to Old Town. The complimentary treats were superb. We loved the caramel bar so much we even bought some to take home. It was a delightful stay!

We barely used any transport beyond the tram from the airport. From here, we could walk all over the city, with the Royal Mile and castle close by and better prices around the hotel. The tram and bus stop are nearby too, so a car wasn't needed at all. I loved the room and thought the location was perfect. It did get hot after a shower or using the hair dryer. There's no AC, which seems pretty standard in Europe, though opening the window brought in a bit of air. There are quite a few stairs, maybe four floors, but with only backpacks that was fine for us. Something to keep in mind if you're carrying more.

Everything was within walking distance, and the hotel was in a perfect spot. Our room was neat and clean, and the reception staff were so friendly that we felt comfortable right away. We had a wonderful stay and would book here again. Thanks for such a great few days!
